Reback sets record at Hagin 15K Run

HOBE SOUND — John Reback of Jupiter set a course record Sunday morning at the 14th annual running of the Del Hagin 15K Run at the Jones/Hungryland State Preserve.

Reback's time of 53 minutes, 43 seconds over the 9.3-mile dirt-road out-and-back course won him the men's overall award. Jon Williams of Miami took second place, and won male masters (age 40 and over) in 55:27. Chad Wilkinson of West Palm Beach captured third place in 55:38.

In the women's race, Randi Garvey of Tequesta won the overall title in 1:17:01. Kathy Brown of Stuart took second in 1:19:20, and Lauren Brooke of Hobe Sound won third place with a time of 1:19:55. Sonya Houseman of Hobe Sound covered the course in 1:20:02 to win the Female Masters trophy.

Forty-three runners completed the race under a cloudy sky and cool temperatures. The race was organized by the Martin County Parks and Recreation Department, and hosted by the Sailfish Striders Running Club of Stuart.
