SOUTH FORK CROSS COUNTRY 5K RUN
June 16, 2006
STUART - For the second year in a row Jon Williams, 37, of Miami
topped the field in the South Fork Cross Country 5K with a time of
18:56. A total of 114 runners participated in the event which kicked off
the summer racing season in the area. Dale Ruby, 44, of Palm City won the
men’s Master Division with a time of 19:55.
Not to be
outdone, Emily Houston, 17, of Jensen Beach repeated as the overall winner
in the women’s division completing the course in 19:51. In the women’s
master division Toni Medvetz, 43, of Loxahatchee won the title with a time
of 25:24.
The race
over a difficult grass and trail course was the first in the Summer
Sizzler Race Series sponsored by the Martin County Parks and Recreation
Department and hosted by the Sailfish Striders Running Club of Stuart.
