PORT ST. LUCIE -  Chris Fulcher of Port St. Lucie won the sixth annual St. Lucie Mets Grand Slam 5K Run held Saturday morning at Tradition Field as he covered the 3.1-mile course in 17 minutes, 28 seconds.  Miami’s Jon Williams was second in 17:38, and Lance Sluder of Okeechobee finished third in 17:57.  Dale Ruby, 44, of Palm City finished fifth overall to win the Masters (age 40 and over) title.
            Williams, 37, had an unusual double, as he finished in second place overall at the Beach To Beach 5K Run held Friday night in Jensen Beach, giving him a pair of next-to-best finishes within a span of less than 13 hours.  Many of the runners who completed the Grand Slam 5K also finished the Beach To Beach 5K the night before.
            In the women’s race, Port St. Lucie’s Jill Bradford won the Overall title in 23:09, Yvonne Dudley of Port St. Lucie finished second in 25:10, and Celia Calderon of Port St. Lucie was third in 25:10.  Patricia Taylor, 53, of Vero Beach won the Masters title in 25:22.
            A total of 66 runners completed the event.  The course began outside the stadium, looped around the surrounding neighborhood, entered the stadium in the left-field corner, and finished down the third-base line next to home plate.
