Swing Into Spring

Jon Williams of Miami won the inaugural Swing Into Spring 5-Mile Run held Sunday morning at Tradition Field as he covered the out-and-back course in 29 minutes, 5.5 seconds. Art Anderson, 50, of Melbourne finished second in 31:44.6 to win the Masters (age 40 and over) title, and Roger Travis of Fort Pierce was third in 32:24.4.

In the women's race, 18-year-old Katie Sick of Millville, Pa., won the overall title in 33:31.4, Ann Sick, 51, of Millville, Pa., won the Masters title and finished second in 35:02.2, and Port St. Lucie's Sandra Melton was third in 38:08.7.

A total of 43 runners completed the event. Each entrant received a ticket to the New York Mets-University of Michigan spring training game late in the morning as well as a buffet brunch as post-race refreshment. Five young runners completed the Kids' K Run, a 0.6-mile fun run held after the 5-mile race, and four other youngsters completed shorter fun runs in the 5-and-under and 6-8 age groups.
