Williams’ time was 17 minutes, 36 seconds. Sean O’Flaherty of Port St. Lucie was second in 17:57. Cary Allen of Hobe Sound was third overall and the winner of the male masters award (age 40 and over) in 18:20.

In the women’s division, Valerie Nagle of Port St Lucie finished first in 21:23. Cynthia Washam of Jensen Beach was second overall and the female masters winner in 21:46. Mary Lou Brunetta of Stuart was thidr in 22:31.

The event is an addition to the 27-year-old tradition of the Charity Classics that benefits numerous charities in Martin County. The 5K Run, and 2K Walk, benefited Molly’s House in Stuart. Molly’s House provides temporary lodging for patients and their families who are receiving medical care on the Treasure Coast. The course was a 3.1 mile loop through the tree-lined neighborhood streets of Mariner Sands.

The race was organized by Louise Murtaugh of Molly’s House with the support of the staff and residents of Mariner Sands, and officiated by the Sailfish Striders Running Club.
