The Vero Beach Devil Rays held its Inaugural Devil Rays Dash 5K Run on
Saturday at Dodgertown. Ryan Kelly won the male division of the race in a
time of 17:25, while Lotte Branigan took the overall Dash title in the
female division with a time of 18:47.
The race course wound through the Dodgertown grounds, taking participants
on a scenic tour through the old Dodgertown golf course, the several
baseball practice fields and the Dodgertown Conference Center, before the
home stretch brought runners into Holman Stadium and around the outfield
warning track to the finish line.
Race director Matt Sanchez said the day was a complete success, as he
heard only positive feedback from the Dash participants.
"We had a great group of runners come out for this event," said Sanchez.
"The Dash participants really liked the course we set up. Several of them
had only been to Dodgertown to attend a baseball game in the stadium, and
were surprised to see so many other unique areas of the grounds. Overall I
think the participants enjoyed the course, and the scenery they got to
experience along the run."
