Fort Pierce - Stephen Dassin,
19, of Lauderdale Lakes and a member of the FAU track team set a course
record at the 12th Annual Harbor Branch 5K Saturday. Dassin
topped the field of 97 runners with a time of 16:32 as he broke away from
the field shortly after passing the one mile mark. Coming in second was
Todd Forsgren of Boca Raton with a time of 16:49. The third place finisher
was Taylor Reeves, 19, of Hobe Sound, a former standout runner with South
Fork High School who also is a member of the FAU team. Reeves completed the
course at 17:10. Cary Allen, 44, of Hobe Sound won the Master award with a
time of 18:42 which was good for a fifth place finish.
In the Woman’s Division, Friederike Feil, 21, who
hails from Germany but is presently from Boca Raton and a member of the FAU
team finished first with a time of 18:59. Mary Lunn, 43, of Vero Beach won
the Master Division after she completed the course in a time of 23:57.
