STUART - Bryan Suarez of Okeechobee won the ninth annual South Fork Cross Country 5K Run

held Friday evening at South Fork High School as he covered the difficult 3.1-mile grass and dirt trail

course in 17 minutes, 37 seconds. Jupiter’s John Reback finished second in 17:59, and Jeremy Wynn of

Vero Beach was third in 18:14. Greg Dudra, 43, of Hobe Sound finished sixth in 18:49 to win the Masters

(age 40 and over) title.

In the women’s race, Lincoln Park Academy cross country coach Jamie Spooner won the Overall

title in 21:02, Kelsey Davis of Hampstead, North Carolina was second in 22:22, and Tarja Allen, 44, of

Palm Beach Gardens finished third in 23:48 to win the Masters title.

A record crowd of 182 runners completed the event, which was the first race in the three-race

Summer Sizzler Race Series organized by the Martin County Parks and Recreation Department and

hosted by the Sailfish Striders Running Club of Stuart. The next race in the Series will be the Downtown

Dash 5K Run, which will be held at 7:00 pm Friday, July 18th at the Martin County Administration offices

in Stuart.
