STUART -
South Fork High School standout runner Michael Rosato of Stuart won the
third annual Blue Ribbon 5K Run held Saturday morning at Halpatiokee Park as
he covered the 3.1-mile loop course in 16 minutes, 59 seconds. Port St.
Lucie’s Robert Barber finished second in 17:47, and Cory Wheeler of Palm
City was third in 18:29. Mike Dahan, 51, of Fort Pierce, finished fourth
overall and won the Masters (Age 40 and Over) title for his efforts.
In the women’s race, Cynthia Washam made it two in a row as she
won the Overall Title in 21:58. Washam, 48, won the L.O.S.T. 7-Mile Run
last weekend in Port Mayaca. Jill Bradford of Port St. Lucie was second in
Saturday’s race in 22:34, and Stuart’s Michelle Heath finished third in
22:44. Randy Garvey, 46, of Tequesta won the Masters title in 26:06.
A total of 99 runners completed the event, which was organized
by the Hibiscus Children’s Center and hosted by the Sailfish Striders
Running Club of Stuart. All proceeds from the race went to benefit the
children’s programs at the Center.
