cruised to victory in the inaugural Hibiscus
Children’s Center 2004 Blue Ribbon 5K Run held Saturday afternoon at the
Hibiscus Treasure House Thrift Store. Menesick, 20,
covered the 3.1-mile loop course that traversed both the old and new
Roosevelt Bridges in 18 minutes, 34 seconds, followed by Port St. Lucie’s
Peter Erwig in 19:28 and Ken Kandefer of Tequesta in 19:38.
Erwig, 42, won the Masters (age 40 and over) title for his efforts.
In the women’s race, Cynthia Washam of
Jensen
Beach
won the Overall title in

, Port St. Lucie’s Sandra Shoemaker finished
second in 23:07
, and Patricia Snodgrass of
Annapolis
Maryland
took third in 24:51.
Shoemaker, 48, won the Masters title.
A total of 67 runners and 35 walkers completed the event, and
proceeds from the event went to benefit the Hibiscus Children’s Center.
