Woods, Begley take Town Center titles

Ryan Woods and Amy Yoder Begley won the overall men's
and women's titles Saturday at the Town Center Classic 5K in Boca
Raton.
Woods, 25, of Daytona Beach, outkicked Canadian Andrew
Smith to win in 14 minutes, 40 seconds. Zepherinus Joseph, 29, who
splits time between Jacksonville and Pompano Beach, was third in
14:45. Joseph was coming off his Feb. 6 Gasparilla Marathon
win.
Begley, 27, a graduate of Arkansas where she was one of
the nation's top college runners and two-time Olympic trials
qualifier, won the women's race in 16:03. Smith's wife, Tara Quinn,
was second in 16:20, edging defending women's champion Ketema
Atalelech of Ethiopia.
Renzo Martinez of Boca Raton took the
wheelchair title in 15:44. Phillip Walkins of Coconut Creek, and
Laura Hruby of Boca Raton and Pittsburgh won the masters
titles.
